Summary of Terms & Conditions
Appointments
All fittings are by appointment. It is essential to either keep to the appointed time or inform us of delays or cancellations. We reserve the right to charge for missed appointments if no notice or less than 24 hours’ notice is given for the cancellation.
Fitting Fees
Consultation and fitting fees are £60 per hour, with a minimum charge of £15. Prices are subject to 20%VAT.
Estimates and Pricing
Due to many different types and constructions of bridal wear, all bridal alterations are estimated. The estimates are based on the time it takes to alter your dress at the hourly rate of £72. If the quoted or estimated cost of alterations differs significantly from the alterations price given at the fitting, we will inform customers before carrying out any work.
Deposits and Payment
Fitting and material charges are subject to VAT. In most cases, a 50% deposit or a full payment is required before commencement of any alteration. Full payment is required before collection or dispatch.
Completion of Alterations
Due to the complexity of the garments, we generally ask to allow 8 to 12 weeks for bridal alterations unless otherwise stated. Express charges may apply to urgent alterations under four weeks. Please ask about express alterations before the appointment and any additional costs involved.
Uncollected Items & Disposal
Please note that any uncollected items may be sold or disposed of to cover our costs within six weeks of collection, and a storage charge may be levied for late collections. We can store bridal gowns and other alterations for longer than six weeks. Storage must be agreed upon in advance.
Insurance and Liability for Clothes
The company will take the utmost care of your clothes. All garments left with us are entirely at the owner’s risk. The company has insurance for garments in its possession to a maximum of £100 per item or £1,000 per customer.
The company cannot accept liability for clothes damaged whilst in the care of any third party such as dry cleaners, invisible menders – who are engaged on your behalf. Their terms and conditions will automatically apply.
Work Specification and Defects
For each garment, a detailed description will be prepared by the fitter. We record the customer’s measurements and garment alteration instructions (‘The Instructions’) agreed with you. A copy of ‘The Instructions’ will be given to the customer after the first fitting. Upon completion of the work specified, it will be quality controlled. If a garment is unacceptable to the customer as a result of the alterations not being carried out in accordance with ‘The Instructions’, we will rectify the work at our expense. If further alteration(s) are required, this additional work will be charged accordingly.
On collection, the customer is obliged to try on the garment and immediately inspect it thoroughly for any defects. We cannot accept responsibility for any further or remedial alterations connected to the original work more than 14 days after collection and final settlement.
